Sheldon overpowers Lambert in Featherweight UMU!

They call Jamie Sheldon 'The Natural' & he was in that exact mode on Saturday evening in his mega showdown UMU with World #3 Featherweight Will "Power' Lambert @ Buffalo Thunder Casino in New Mexico. Sheldon appeared to have hand control from the beginning of the match powering his way through Lambert taking a decisive 3-0 victory. Sheldon looked phenominal and told table side reporters he felt 100% healthy going into the match and was expecting a great performance from himself. This was Lambert's first UMU & despite the nadir of a lopsided match total, lived up to his reputation showing remarkable arm strength throughout the match. Sheldon had the answers he needed countering Lambert's aggression & maintaining command of the rounds, including strap match. Sheldon stated in his post match interview "I'm back, I'm healthy, i will be on top again soon. Much respect to Will Lambert". UAL would like to thank Victor & Corey @ New Mexico Arm Sports for assembling & running another incredible tournament. GET PULLED IN!

Allen, making his UMU debut, has endured through the toughest training camp of his career with one focused mission, Bring home the gold! Heavyweight World Championship

  • The legend continues ... Changelessness has been the defining characteristic of UAL Heavyweight World Champion John Brzenk's title reign. In continuing his greatest of all time legacy, the champ has continually adapted, transformed and reinvented himself & his style against world class competition from around our terrestrial sphere for decades to remain the most noticeable face on arm wrestling's Mount Rushmore. Brzenk entered his third title defense with a near perfect league record of 11-1 (his only UMU loss coming at the hands of Jerry Cadorette 1-2, when he attempted to double dip and take home, not only the heavyweight title, but the super heavyweight title in the same day @ UAL 1) and having never lost a heavyweight championship round, the conditions appeared perfect for his storm to continue unabated in Toronto. One half hour later, as the dust settled after the UAL 9 Main Event @ 2015 Mike Gould Classic, the carnage was palpable. Both combatants pushed themselves and each other to their physical & mental limits and both were noticeably damaged, but in the end, the division potentate maintained his iron grip on the 235 Lb division. Sunday afternoon's featured Ultimate Match Up was no border skirmish, it was war! Hollywood could not have scripted a better back and forth match up with Brzenk taking rounds 1 & 3, with Mask equalling the scorecard pulling rounds 2 & 4 away from the champ. Entering the final round, the ulcer inducing anticipation inside the OFL Building left family, friends and fans of both athletes pondering drinking Maalox right out the bottle. In the fifth round, Brzenk countered his antagonists aggression, wrenching destiny from Mask's hand and leaving the crowd in a hypnotic frenzy. Its rare that a loss earns a puller a better reputation coming out than going in, but this is that exceptional case as Mask, who's UAL record drops to 1-1, has positioned himself as a staple of the division's four headed monster along with Brzenk, the inconvenient truth of Mr Ron Bath, and perennial #1 contender Chris 'The Freak' Chandler.

Super Heavyweight Ultimate Match Up

  • Return of a Hero ... Since it's inception, through the emergence of it's evolution, to it's approaching zenith, the Canadian arm wrestling movement has been built, inspired & pulled forward by only a small handful of mythical figures ... 2 Time World Champion Mike 'The Crusher' Gould is one of them. The current field of Canadian pullers & fans made their annual pilgrimage to Toronto to contribute another magical moment and pay homage to it's hometown Hero. The only obstacle to fulfilling this fanfare engorged day of gleeful tribute to one of it's godfathers was the 'Leviathan', 3 Time Super Heavyweight World Champion, Richard Lupkes. Both icons brought the packed OFL Building to it's feet at introductions in acknowledgment to their life long dedication and influence in breaking arm wrestling to the masses in their respective homelands. The refreshing air of mutual respect was apparent from both warriors as they stepped to the table, only to be overcome by the placid stench of conflict which was about to unfold. Round one was sensational and its resultant Medusa effect would rear its ugly head later in the match. At GO! Lupkes & Gould dropped apocalyptic hits on each other in what appeared to be an insane act of mutually assured destruction. Leviathan held Gould Statuesque at table center as the audience manifested a wave of adulation, 3 successive, doom-laden & unsuccessful strikes later, Lupkes lost his advantage as Gould fended off the hits, gained hand control flipping Leviathans wrist and crushing his hand to the pad at the :25 mark unleashing a riot in the crowd. As round two began, Lupkes attempting to get off first, didn't appear to have full power behind his hammer blow, which allowed The Crusher to hold out through the initial blast, and counter strike with constant pressure opening Leviathan's arm which was unable to stave off the force from Gould producing the most shocking results of the night & allowing for a Star of our sport, past it's embryonic stage, incandescent rebirth and the fans of a nation, to host a perfect return for a hero!

UAL 9 QUEEN OF THE TABLE

  • Long live the Queen ... A phenomenal 2015 Mike Gould Classic event closed with the first ever 'UAL Queen of the Table', an Ultimate Match Up showcasing the top finishers in the women's class tournaments battling it out for bragging rights and 1000$ payday! Surviving a strong field of international Pullers was only the first step to the title, the finalists from the Openweight & Lightweight divisions now had to go all out in a single elimination showdown from division top to bottom. The warrior left standing set to walk away with the sports metaphorical tiara and often equally valued, literal hard cold cash. Match one was to prove ominous for the majority of the combatants as Openweight Champion Heidi Cordner had laser beams coming out of her eyes and began atomizing the leading contenders from the division. Sarah Wilson & Cassie Drapeau didn't survive to the :02 mark. Jessica King flexed the first muscles of resistance to Cordner's reign stopping a huge hit inches from the pad, then slowly succumbing to continual thrusts until her arm buckled at :06. Josee Morneau was not intimidated by Heidi's onslaught & attacked as her best defense. Morneau shot off GO! with a clobbering hit which Cordner struggled to stop, depleting a lot of energy from her reserve tank. Heidi then willed herself back to table center, finishing off her antagonist with a smashing top roll to the pad. American contender Brenda Taylor and Canadian Patrina Brooks were next on the assembly line of destruction that Cordner was building for herself but as with all dictatorships, resistance is fierce & the hands of time work against their perseverance. Heidi's 7th confrontation of the QOTT, was to be her last holding the mythological title. Lightweight champion Crhis De Souza stepped to the table in her notorious extrovert fashion, spurned on by innate desire and a salacious environment, Cordner nodded to De Souza telling her "What come on!" and waved Crhis to the table with both hands. The match began with a heavy attack from Heidi which almost imploded De Souza who urgently gathered herself with a counterstrike forcing a slip. Cordner blasted De Souza with a hammer blow as strap match began, forcing Crhis to concentrate on survival. Heidi appeared to be working through the mechanics of her transition towards a shoulder press or drag, but as Crhis diligently counter thrusted, she lost her hand control and both warriors dropped tremendous hooks to a stalemate at table center until Cordners arm began to dissolve into the pad, skyrocketing De Souza out of the atmosphere into a bruce lee inspired series of writhing karate maneuvers. Canadian legend Tamara Mitts held off the Brazilian wrecking ball with everything she had slowly losing the clash of arm strength until surrendering to De Souza's force :11 seconds in. Upstart Melissa Louvelle showed signs of breaking the table center stalemate momentarily but was unable to fend off the constant stream of pressure leaving Laura Cook as the lone obstacle to the crowning of Ms. De Souza as the first ever women's all around champion in league history. After putting forth an epic struggle of opposition, Laura wasn't unable to shelve the ubiquitous tidal wave of the Brazilian Tsunami who pounded her way to the crown in sensational fashion. As proclamations of "Hallelujah" and unadulterated "Thank you Canada" s poured onto the crowd from the new monarch, the local subjects conveyed much less enthusiasm for the new reign than did her majesty, begrudgingly acknowledging the time honored proclamation "The Queen is dead ... Long live the Queen".

Heavyweight World Championship

  • The legend continues ... Changelessness is the defining characteristic of the 'UAL Heavyweight World Title' lineage. Continuing his greatest of all time legacy, John Brzenk has adapted, transformed & reinvented himself & his style against world class competition from around our terrestrial sphere for decades to remain the most recognizable face on arm wrestling's Mount Rushmore. Brzenk entered his third title defense with a league record of 12-1 (his only loss coming at the hands of Jerry Cadorette 1-2, when he attempted to take home, not only the heavyweight title, but the super heavyweight title in the same day @ UAL 1) and having only ever lost 1 heavyweight championship round, the conditions appeared perfect for his storm to continue unabated in Toronto. One half hour later, as the dust settled after the UAL 9 Main Event @ 2015 Mike Gould Classic, the carnage was palpable. Both combatants pushed themselves & each other to their physical limits and both were noticeably damaged but in the end, the division potentate maintained his iron grip on the 235 Lb division. Sunday afternoon's featured Ultimate Match Up was no border skirmish, it was war! Hollywood could not have scripted a more vacillating contrast for the match. Brzenk, the consummate professional, opened round one with a rare moment of showmanship catching Mask's clubbing hit, then telling his opponent about it, before a heavy drag to the pad to take an early lead. Mask, noticeably irate took his vengance out on the champ with a furious over the top smash in a :01 round to tie the score @ 1-1 then clamoring for the Champ to "get in here". Ever the gentleman, Brzenk complied with his hosts request in a round three strap match, again catching a Mask club and using a steady drag to the pad. Round four made this match epic with both athletes exchanging monster hits in the strap, and devastating each others arms until Mask broke through on his fourth hammerstrike taking Brzenk to the pad launching the crowd into a volcanic eruption. Entering the final round, the ulcer inducing anticipation inside the OFL Building left family, friends and fans of both athletes pondering drinking Maalox right out the bottle. In the fifth round, Brzenk countered his antagonists aggression, applying constant steady pressure collapsing Mask's arm in three phases, wrenching destiny from his hand and leaving the crowd spellbound. Its rare that a loss earns a puller a better reputation coming out than going in, but this is that exceptional case as Mask, who's UAL record drops to 1-1, has positioned himself as a staple of the division's four headed monster along with Brzenk, the inconvenient truth of Mr Ron Bath, and perennial #1 contender Chris 'The Freak' Chandler. image image
